Roxana Jordán

Born in the neighborhood of Santurce in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Roxana Jordan is a ceramist currently living and working in Loíza, Puerto Rico. She studied elementary school education at the Interamerican University Puerto Rico. Trained as a ceramist at Casa Candina, where she later taught ceramics to adolescent children from 1988 to 1991, Jordan also studied sculptural ceramics under the renowned Austrian sculptor Gerga Gruber at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in San Juan P.R.

Jordan worked as a teacher in the “Art workshops in the communities” project of the municipality of San Juan. She then became a professor of sculptural ceramics at La Liga de Arte, Old San Juan from 1992 to 2005. She has exhibited in the V Biennial of Havana Cuba at the Castillo de la Real Fuerza, 1992, and recently in exhibitions in galleries such as Galería Botello San Juan, Pamil fine arts Guaynabo P. R., Sidhia Hutchinson Gallery Vieques P.R. and Puerto Rico Arts & Craft, San Juan, P.R. Jordana’s work is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Santurce, and the Casa Candina collection in Puerto Rico.
